U.S. Figure Skating is proud to observe Native American Heritage Month throughout November. This month allows us an opportunity to acknowledge the rich and diverse cultures, traditions and unique challenges Indigenous people have faced both historically and in the present. We recognize that First Nations and Indigenous people, Native Americans, American Indians and Alaskan Natives are an underrepresented group in our sport. As we work to be more diverse and inclusive, we recognize that Native American heritage adds to our culture within figure skating and is something to be valued and celebrated. When we take time to value others and their diverse cultures and communities, we intentionally create a sense of belonging in our sport.
